Data Privacy Declaration

At every step of data processing (e.g. data-gathering, processing and transmission) we, Otto (GmbH & Co KG), Werner-Otto-Straße 1-7, 22179 Hamburg, Germany (hereinafter: OTTO) comply fully with legal requirements.

1. Registration

Our website enables registration using personal data (first name, surname)
We use this data exclusively to fulfil the purpose of registration, i.e. participation in the Symposium, and do not provide this data to third parties for any other purpose.

2. Contact options

There are several channels available to you to contact us: via e-mail, telephone or post. If you contact us, we will use any personal data (e.g. e-mail address) with which you voluntarily provide us for the exclusive purpose of contacting you and processing your enquiry.

3. Cookies

The website uses ‘cookies’ to provide users with a comprehensive range of functionalities and to make the use of the website as convenient as possible. ‘Cookies’ are small text files that can be saved on your computer with the aid of your Internet browser. If you prefer cookies not to be used, you can prevent cookies being saved on your computer by adjusting the corresponding settings in your Internet browser.

The ‘Help’ function provided in the menu of most Internet browsers will explain to you how you can prevent your browser from saving new cookies, how you can adjust your browser to notify you when you receive a new cookie, how you can delete all cookies you have so far received, and how to block all further incoming cookies.

  1. In the ‘Extras’ menu, select ‘Internet options’.
  2. Click on the header ‘Data privacy’.
  3. You can now adjust the security settings for the Internet security ¬zone; here you can choose whether and which cookies will be accepted or rejected.
  4. Confirm your preferred settings with ‘OK’.

In Mozilla Firefox:

  1. In the ‘Extras’ menu, select ‘Settings’. 
  2. Click on the header ‘Data privacy’. ‘
  3. In the drop-down menu select ‘Apply user-defined settings’.
  4. You can now adjust your settings to accept or block cookies, how long you want to keep these cookies, and apply exceptions regarding from which websites you always / never want to accept cookies.
  5. Confirm your preferred settings with ‘OK’.

In Google Chrome:

  1. Click on the Chrome menu in the browser’s symbol pane.
  2. Select ‘Settings’.
  3. Click on ‘Show extended settings’.
  4. Under ‘Data privacy’click on ‘Content settings’.
  5. Under ‘Cookies’you can select the following settings for cookies:
    a) Delete cookies
    b) Always block cookies
    c) Always accept cookies
    d) Always delete cookies and website data when closing your Chrome browser
    e) Create exceptions for cookies from specific websites or Internet domains.

4. Information, notification, blocking, deletion

You can request information at any time about your personal data that OTTO has saved. Please contact:

You also have the option of requesting a report on your personal data at any time, blocking access to it, or having it deleted, as long as this fulfils the respective legal stipulations. In case of inaccuracies in your personal data we will correct the data we have saved as rapidly as possible after receiving your notification. For a report on your personal data please contact the company detailed above by using the postal address or e-mail provided.

Personal data will be deleted if its gathering or processing did not fulfil legal requirements to begin with, if processing or using it was not permitted due to events after the time it was gathered, or if we no longer require knowledge of this data to fulfil the original purpose of gathering or processing it. Exclusively exempt from deletion are those data that we require to process tasks still to be completed, or to uphold our own rights and claims, as well as those data that we are legally required to store and maintain. Access to such data will be blocked.
