In honour of the entrepreneur and Chairman of the Otto Group Supervisory Board Dr Michael Otto, the Otto Group has published a book on questions regarding the future of our society, entitled ‘FutureValues – responsibility for tomorrow’s world’. This book comprises contributions by 33 male and female authors who share a deep concern for the wellbeing of our planet, as well as the artistic perspectives of 23 renowned male and female artists. Each contributor seeks to answer these questions regarding the future of our society from their own viewpoint – questions on sustainability and climate protection, the crisis of globalisation, growing inequality, the digitalisation of business, and on the future of education. The role of the world’s major cities as platforms for culture, art and architecture as well as the future of consumption in the digital age also shape the book’s agenda. This publication approaches those topics to which the entrepreneur and Chairman of the Otto Group Supervisory Board Dr Michael Otto has dedicated a great deal of his life; these topics also form the agenda of the Symposium to mark his 75th birthday, at which several of the authors will be speaking in person to present their positions in greater depth.
